The 2022-2023 school year lunches will not be free, please make sure your student has lunch money in their accounts. Families will need to complete an application through power school to determine if their household is eligible for free or reduced-price school meals, as was done before the pandemic. USDA is also supporting the expansion of direct certification, which uses existing data to certify children for free or reduced-price meals without an additional application. All states are required to direct certify students for free meals if their household receives SNAP benefits, and some states also directly certify for free and reduced-price meals based on participation in Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations or Medicaid. States that are interested in participating in the Direct Certification for Medicaid demonstration project are invited to respond to the current request for applications, which closes on September 30, 2022. In school year 2019-2020, 1.4 million students received free and reduced-price meals thanks to direct certification through Medicaid.
Your child may qualify for free or reduced-price meals. If you would like to apply, please visit lunchapplication.com where you can apply online and have your application sent directly to our school. If you would prefer a paper application, you may contact Laura Brady at 419-658-2808 to request one. You must submit a new application every school year, unless we have notified you that your child is eligible. If you received free or reduced-price meals last year, you have a grace period of until October 8, 2022 to re-apply for the current school year. If you do not re-apply, after that date, your child will be charged full price for meals. Only one application per household is needed.
Dealing with your children’s school money just got a lot easier! You can now go online and add money to their accounts for meals and even see what they are buying in the cafeteria.
To get started using the online system, go to https://www.k12paymentcenter.com and click “Register” to create an account. Select Central Local Schools from the drop-down lists of school districts for the state of Ohio, fill in your information, input your credit or debit card information, and you’re ready to go! Note that you will need your child’s student ID number, this is the 5-6 digit number that they use in the lunch line to checkout with. If you need help with this, then simply contact us for their ID number and with any other questions you may have. Premium accounts are free (The standard $10 one time fee for premium accounts has been waived) for all Central Local School District accounts. Note that the $1.95 transaction fee still applies.
